Fluorite with Quartz
A pedestal of drusy, sparkling quartz forms the matrix for an intergrown cluster of sparkling, frosted cuboctahedrons of fluorite to 5.5 cm across. The fine green color is augmented by glassy and gemmy cube faces. For the size, as most specimens from this mine have been larger and more jumbly in the past, this is a remarkable example of fluorite for the habit and style. I have seen many in the past from here with this shape, but jumbled into huge massive fluorite and not discrete, as some from this pocket are, for the modern collector taste in aesthetics. Contacted (no damage) on back where it attached to its matrix and came off cleanly, it lets light transmit through the crystal with no matrix to block it, and glows on a shelf.
