Beryl var. Morganite
This perfect floater crystal of the pink variety of beryl, morganite, has an intense and saturated pink color to it. It is complete all around. Bill Larson told me he bought it himself on travel in Africa in the 1990s, from a gem market, where it was amongst the more typical Jos aquamarines and other gem materials (he paid $4000 or so for it, from memory, long ago). Morganite from Jos is rare, and has a special color. You can look at the shape and think it is a bit too pink for Brazil, a bit wrong in shape for Pakistan, and not red enough to be a Madagascar beryl... it just looks different. But, they are super rare! This floater miniature has been in the Larson collection in an educational exhibit of beryls since the 1990s, and only now for sale for the first time. It has a stunning color that changes slightly in different lights, between LED and indoor lighting, for example.
