Ajoite, Quartz
A striking edge phantom of pleasing, powder-blue ajoite is dramatically included in the termination of a sharp, water-clear quartz crystal from a new find at the Messina Mine of South Africa. Three sides of the crystal are preferentially coated with iron oxides making for a very showy piece. The glassy crystal faces are very lightly frosted. This is an impressive, highly representative example of the very rare copper silicate, named after its discovery locality, the New Cornelia Mine, Ajo, Arizona.
