Description
A very rich and aesthetic specimen festooned with exceptionally sharp and gemmy, dark maroon-pink Rhodochrosite from the noted Uchucchacua mine in Peru. This cabinet sized Rhodochrosite specimen has glistening crystals all over the display surface, to 6 mm. From top to bottom and side to side, this piece has lightly interlocking Rhodochrosite crystals all over a black to brown, largely Alabandite/manganese ore matrix. This is classic material that is now very difficult to obtain especially in this size range and probably dates to the 1980s or 90s. This is a larger, showy specimen formerly in the William Logan collection.
