Zircon
A very large and very sharp, 4.6 cm Zircon crystal accented by a few smaller Zircon crystals from THE classic old Norwegian locality for the species! This robust, textbook tetragonal crystal is translucent to transparent with eye-catching red-brown internal reflections. Crystal faces and edges are very well-defined with only a trace of edge wear very locally and minor contacting at the base with negative crystal impressions from other, smaller Zircon crystals. This is probably one of the more profound Zircon crystals we have had for sale in recent years. Specimens of this size and quality are nearly impossible to obtain today and I have seen only a few in the last decade or so turn up from old collections. Ex. Chester Lemanski collection. A former H.M. Brennecke, Corpus Christi, TX, collection specimen (#933), sold to Chet by the Rocksmiths in the early 2000s when they dispersed that significant Texas collection at the time. Mass is exactly 100 grams.
