Spessartine Garnet
Clustered together are glassy and translucent dodecahedrons of wine-red spessartine. The largest crystal is rather equant and measures 3 cm. Minor edge wear does not materially affect the quality of this specimen in terms of display, although it has halved the value in my estimation from what I might otherwise see. It is an important garnet from the location, in that it is pocket growth, never trapped in and enclosed by galena. Thus, it has spectacular luster whereas most from here do not.
