Manganoan Calcite with Pyrite
This intergrown cluster of parallel growth manganoan calcite crystals, to 5.2 cm in length, is lustrous and translucent with a faint pink color. The back side of the calcite crystals has a coating of sparkling, drusy pyrite. Under fluorescent light the calcite crystals glow a rich pinkish orange. From one single unusual find, reportedly in the 1960s or 1970s. Ex Milton Lavers collection.
