Smithsonite
A prized piece of the historic flow-stone-like, saturated teal blue Smithsonite from the Refugio Mine at Choix, Mexico. This is a rather large specimen that shows distinct textural differences on either side with the display side rendering a segmented botryoidal pattern and the reverse showing an almost polygonal crystalline texture. Layering can be observed on the edges of the piece. This super nice display piece is probably from specimen mining at this locality in the 1970's due to the intense color (later material in the 1990s was not as deep and rich blue). No bruising on the surface at all, only subtle contacting around the edges. Old Williams Minerals label.
