A quick look at the video or photo says it all here — this is a REALLY different, distinct, memorable rhodochrosite from ANY locality, let alone from Mexico. Such crystals were reported from long ago, the 1970s-1980s, but other than this large specimen we had only seen singles. I first saw this in the dispersal of the John Barlow Collection in 1999, bought it around 1999-2000, and sold it to Dr. Vasco Trancoso at the time. It remains memorable, and I was happy to get it back recently. Rhodochrosite is common enough from other locations, but is extremely rare in fine quality from Mexico, and this is a different shape and style regardless of origin. It is an exaggerated scalenohedral crystal, doubly terminated, with a crossing crystal right in the middle. With backlighting, even minimally, it glows. Never seen another of this size and quality.
