Roselite with Calcite
A mound of almost needle-like Calcite crystals are festooned with a myriad of ruby-red Roselite crystals from early finds at the Aghbar Mine in Morocco (1970s-80s). Scores of small (3 to 8 mm), translucent, slender, scalenohedral Calcite crystals cover and radiate from a somewhat rounded piece of matrix and are embellished with a wealth of tiny, but colorful Roselite crystals. The Roselite crystals densely cover essentially all of the area between the Calcite crystals like a ruby-red carpet and provide complementary contrast. This piece is the style from early Roselite finds at the Aghbar Mine and very different from a group of specimens that came out more recently. They are immediately recognizable. From the collection of Dr HJ Wilke. This and a similar specimen from the Eric Asselborn collection dated to the same time, are the only two large examples we’ve seen for sale.
