Tektite (Var: Moldavite)
A rare, very glassy green moldavite with lustrous etch-pits from the type locality of Moravia, Czech Republic. Moldavite is a green natural glass, a variety of tektite, which are thought to be formed by a meteorite impact melting the local rock. Front and back photos are given. The backlit photo highlights the transparency of the crystal and the etch-pits on both faces of the crystal. 2.5 x 1.5 x 0.7 cm
