Magnetite
The best, classic octohedral magnetites in the US came from here, even hundreds of years ago, and are now classics. This specimen is remarkable in that it features the textbook-classic sharp octohedra in crystals to 4 cm in size. This is unheard of, and according to people who know more than I about such things, this may very well be the best example extant of this important find for overall combination of size and aesthetics. It is not repaired. People who saw my exhibit at Springfield, many of them who know far more than I of such East Coast classics, ranked this the top specimen in the display at any price.
