Baryte
The Black Cloud mine is well known for its sulfide specimens, but it has also produced some of the classic "golden" Baryte for which the Leadville Mining District is renowned. Here we have a fine example with layered, curved, "chisel"-shaped, gemmy, somewhat lustrous, bladed golden Baryte crystals. This specimen is at least 30 years old and possibly older as it resembles other Black Cloud Barytes that I have seen which were found in the 1960's and 1970's. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.
