Beryl var. Goshenite with Muscovite
Burma is known for all kinds of fancy gem crystals. It is actually fairly difficult to obtain beryls, especially complete examples, from this rich gem region. Few are found, and most are cut for the local gem markets. We do see pockets from time to time - or we did, rather, when they were legally exported prior to 2009. This came out in the early 2000s, exported and imported by Bill Larson of Pala Gems when it was possible, which it is not now. Still, most of what we see is aquamarine and a true goshenite, which is a colorless beryl, is actually very rare from here (and from most locations). This crystal is about 3.5 cm tall and more than 1 cm across the top. It is quite literally a textbook example of an elongated goshenite beryl. It displays nicely as a miniature with the small bit of muscovite mica matrix at the base. From the Larson Burma collection, this got sucked into the general Beryl display case at the company store over a decade ago and has remained there since.
