Beryl var. Heliodor
Slender and tapering with a glassy luster and gemmy interior, this saturated golden-yellow heliodor from the famous old Walking Stick pegmatite has a lovely sculptural quality. Its mass is 12 grams. These beryls were mined in the late 1970s and some were hoarded by the miner, Bob Contat, a geologist over there at the time. He sold them into the market in intervals, and then more came out from a shoebox left in his estate upon his death in the 1990's. Today they are very, very uncommon and immediately recognizable by the color and shape. I have had few over the years!
