Fluorite with Chalcopyrite
Excellent cluster of beautiful Fluorite cubes from the famous Minerva #1 mine in southern Illinois, form the heyday of the 1980s or early 1990s. These yellow, gemmy to translucent crystals range up to 3.1 cm on edge. The luster is excellent, the color a rich, warm yellow, and there are fine purple and apricot phantoms that add greatly to the allure of each crystal. Preferentially, some of the crystal faces have embedded Chalcopyrite crystals that are lustrous and well-formed, which add greatly to the interest of the piece. The outer zones are fluorescent, and the attractive presentation is splendid. Good Minerva pieces such as this are hard to come by. Quite aesthetic for its beauty and balance, this cabinet specimen is even better in person.
