Vanadanite and Calcite
The San Carlos Mine has produced superb, and now very hard to find, aesthetic specimens of Vanadanite intergrown with Calcite. The euhedral, elongated, and lustrous orange Vanadinite prisms are up to .9 cm, and they are intergrown with lustrous and gemmy Calcite rhombs. These came out in the 1970s and 1980s, and there have been none since. Most are ugly - but not this one! Although there are some small cleavages on the Calcites, the overall aesthetics are very good, and this is an important, hard to find specimen. Notable for the locality. Purchased originally from California dealer Beth Gordon in the 1980s, by a German collector named Schwethelm.
