Azurite with Malachite
An excellent and showy, old-time Chessy specimen composed of lustrous Azurite crystals, altering in a few areas to fine, chatoyant Malachite. Most Chessy Azurites are the classic rosettes or balls, so this is a very uncommon habit from this historic locality. The deep blue color is actually quite visible, and nicely uniform. The largest Azurite is about 1.4 cm, and several of the Azurites are highlighted with Malachite, making the look quite striking. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is a fine example from this classic mine.
