Prehnite after Laumontite with Copper
Crystals of what were once laumontite measuring to almost 2.0 cm in height forming a cluster and completely replaced by very pale green sparkling crystallized prehnite. Collected in the year 2000 by Mike Hedtke, this is in excellent condition. These are only rarely seen on the market today.A pseudomorph is a mineral specimen in which one mineral replaces another while preserving the original crystals external shape. In the case of prehnite after laumontite, the original laumontite crystal formed first and later altered chemically to prehnite. During this process the prehnite replaced the laumontite but kept the same crystal form. The result is a specimen that looks like a laumontite crystal but is actually composed of prehnite.
