Lustrous yellow green crystals of pyromorphite to 0.5 cm in size on matrix. Quartz is present as well. Slight micro-damage present, overall in good condition. Collected by George Wilson. The Caldbeck Fells mining district was worked from the 16th through the 19th centuries for lead, copper, and small amounts of silver, with numerous small underground mines developed along mineralized veins. Pyromorphite formed as a secondary mineral from the weathering of galena and commonly appears as green hexagonal crystals lining cavities in the host rock. Specimens from Roughton Gill are well known among collectors and represent one of the classic English localities for this colorful lead mineral.
