Hellandite with Quartz
An interesting specimen featuring mostly massive, colorless to pale hellandite developed along one edge of a massive quartz matrix. The contrast between the lighter hellandite and the quartz host provides clear visual definition and good species representation. Hellandite is a rare calcium rare earth beryllium borosilicate first described from Norway and known from relatively few localities worldwide, typically occurring in granitic pegmatites and related environments. The Kragero area of southern Norway is a classic Scandinavian pegmatite district recognized for its complex mineralogy and occurrence of rare species, and Lindvikskollen Quarry has produced a number of uncommon minerals from its evolved pegmatitic systems, making this a solid representative example from a historically important and mineralogically significant region.
