Calcite
There is one train of thought which suggests that if a crystal is on matrix it is much more significant, but with Derbyshire Calcites sometimes the very best are only ever individual detached crystals. This beauty is an absolute choice crystal from the famous Ladywash mine. Not only is it extremely gemmy and with a stunning amber coloured tip, but the level of detail of its crystal faces is simply breathtaking. Yes, it is cleaved at it base where it was removed from matrix, but everything else about it is magnificent. Ex Roger Harker Collection, with his handwritten label affixed, noting that it was collected by John Jones in August 1973.
