This wonderful Witherite specimen is not only an extremely well proportioned miniature piece, but it is an absolute classic of the rare pyramidal-terminated cyclic-twinned Witherite for which Fallowfield mine is famed. Not only this, but this exact specimen is illustrated in a line-drawing in the famous Rutley's Elements of Mineralogy book, on page 290 of the revised 26th edition in 1970. The crystals, of which there are four main ones, are all very slightly rounded on their surfaces from handling and a couple have small areas missing on their side where they were attached to other missing crystals. The largest crystal reaches 2.5 cm in length and shows the classic 'stepping' of the prism faces. A really lovely miniature Witherite of the most desirable crystal form. Ex Martin Kershaw Collection, no. 369.
