Black Quartz (morion)
Black quartz (morion), 6.2 cm, from the French property south of Russell, St. Lawrence County, New York. In 2015, Donnie’s extensive exploration of the area south of Russell revealed a number of new localities, including a mineralized knob next to the French family homestead. The quartz here ranges from colorless to black as shown by this specimen. No source of radioactivity has yet been found. Steve Chamberlain collection and photo.
