Fluorite
Fluorite, 11.5 cm, from the Josefa-Veneros vein, La Collada, Asturias, Spain. The Collada District was mined for fluorite for a short time in the 1940s and then again in the 1970s but closed in 1986. The blue and purple color-zoned fluorite crystals are typical, as is the distinctive combination of cubes with smooth faces modified by beveled edges (dodecahedral faces) that are textured and rough.
