Rhodochrosite
Here we have a jewel of a bright red rhodochrosite from the Sweet Home mine with incredible luster. The Sweet Home Mine is perhaps the most famous North American Rhodochrosite locality and certainly internationally ranks in the top 5 for the species. This specimen exemplifies why. After the Sweet Home Mine closed in 2004 another project was attempted but nothing has been able to touch the superb quality of the original sweet home mine. This particular specimen is from the corner pocket which was in the watercourse raise which was mined in 1994. Please note that these photos have not been edited in any way to enhance the color….
