Chrome Tremolite$2,400.00

Tremolite is not a mineral species you normally think of for world class thumbnail specimens; but this piece, and some few like it from the region of Tanzania known more for tanzanite and tsavorite than for such oddities, certainly resets expectations. This is a gorgeous, intense electric-green crystal cluster with shimmering metallic color. While we have seen others, they are mostly slender things, with no "sparkle" to them even if they have color. This has the best surface luster we have ever seen on the species, more metallic/glassy than any other tremolite we can recall. Also, unlike most single and thumbnail-sized crystals from this mining area, this is a thick cluster with a robust, 3-dimensional central crystal showing an unusually deep and wide termination atop... such that it frankly looks at first more like a chrome tourmaline, until you realize the crystal shape is wrong. Perhaps an older find, this came from the Africa thumbnail suite of the Carl Acosta thumbnail collection. It is truly mesmerizing in person, as you look at subtle details and the flashes of different colors of green. Complete all around, this is a pristine "floater" with no attachment point.
