Sculptural Spessartine on Smoky quartz: an aesthetic Spessartine specimen on quartz from China
A fantastic duo of two lustrous aesthetic Smoky Quartz prisms of transparency, penetrating a non-descript, off-white Feldspar matrix with numerous equant speckles of real orange Spessartines dusting the lower areas of the Quartz prisms.
Luster is brilliant, and other than a tiny nick to the termination, condition is quite excellent. The Spessartines measure up to 0.11 inches (0.3 cm) across, and, according to Bert Ottens, this was from a small pocket where the Spessartines were unusually orange and transparent and could be dubbed "Mandarin" in color, and the Quartz crystals were also unusually transparent.
Location: From Wushan Spessartine Mine, Tongbei, Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China.
Measures: 7,80 x 5,10 x 5,6 cm in total size
