Goboboseb Mountains, Brandberg Area, Dâures Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia 9.3 x 10.7 x 6.2 cm This world class amethyst specimen from the esteemed HMNS collection is a staple of how good Goboboseb amethyst can get. Absolute perfect, "grape-jelly" color with vibrant "blue flash" phantoms make this specimen attract any collector's eye. An unusual, but extremely noteworthy aspect of this specimen is the fact that it has top luster, as most amethysts with this color tend to be quite matte on the surface. The juxtaposition of the two crystals to each other is perfect, as is the way that they aesthetically shoot out of a contrasting matrix that consists of a basalt substrate with a calcite and siderite layer. This specimen is a divine example of an aesthetic mineral specimen. Photograph by Jordan Root
