Siglo Veinte Mine, Llallagua, Rafael Bustillo, Potosí, Bolivia 12.7 x 5.3 x 6.0 cm To find a truly world-class Vivianite specimen is a rare occurrence; many specimens tend to be small, damaged, and appear to blend together. This specimen is truly exceptional, both in terms of size and quality. This cabinet-sized masterpiece exhibits beautiful etching on the front-right face, and robust, translucent, colorful crystals that make a bold statement. The pleochroism displayed by this piece is remarkable. When backlit, vibrant "kryptonite green" colors glow. Shift the piece just a bit, and royal blue and inky purple colors appear. This specimen comes with a custom acrylic base, and was formerly in the collection of Stephen Pochek. Photographs by Jordan Root
