Spotlight on Aquamarine

It appears that the federal government in Pakistan has imposed a 60-day ban on the import and export of gold, diamonds, gemstones and jewellery, with immediate effect. And that got us thinking what could happen to the price of aquamarine if the ban is extended.

Pakistan is a major supplier of aquamarine and specimens from the Shigar Valley come with amazing color and clarity. It is too early to tell whether the ban will have an effect on the mineral market but we have refined localities for our aquamarine database and here are the alternative sources.

Email or Instagram us your favourite species and localities and if you can't find them on EarthWonders we will work on them next!

Hand-Picked Quality Aquamarine from $100 to $20,000+

If you are looking for an aquamarine but struggling to select a good value item, we have reviewed all aquamarine specimens for sale on EarthWonders and have hand-picked a selection of specimens from as low as $100 to stunning 5-figure specimens.

Experienced collectors will be able to appreciate the selection by just looking at the cover photos but we have included a short editor note on each item if you don't know much about aquamarine.

Superb Gem Thumbnail
Superb Gem ThumbnailThis would make a beautiful aquamarine to start a collection! It is gemmy clear, from a lesser-known locality - Nigeria, pointy at the top - again, unusual and mounted beautifully upright. Not cut, not polished, naturally formed with sharp geometry. For the size and price this specimen has a lot of character and is not a generic aquamarine prism.See all hand-picked aquamarine
Vietnamese Aquamarine
Vietnamese AquamarineVietnamese aquamarine has the darkest blue color and is far less common on the market than Pakistani or Brazilian aquamarine. There is only one region in Vietnam that produces aquamarine. This specimen is gemmy, has great color and is a nice miniature size.See all hand-picked aquamarine
Palm Size Superb Aquamarine
Palm Size Superb AquamarineA large specimen with three distinct crystals with perfect faces and terminations (tips where the crystal completed growing). The colour is bright, the crystals are gem-clear, and the item has been featured in the Mineralogical Record.See all hand-picked aquamarine
