1971 Gem Pocket

Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia

2.9 x 2.6 x 1.7 cm

This specimen hails from the famous 1971 “Gem Pocket” at the Tsumeb Mine. The 1971 find occurred at West 80, Level 28 in the second oxidation zone. The mimetite crystals are gemmy, transparent, very pale-yellow prisms and terminated by a pinacoid with a simple pyramidal bevel. They feature a glassy luster and are widely recognized as the finest of species. This specimen, a small miniature, is a very good example from this find.
