Titanite from Brazil, Minas Gerais, Capelinha
Titantite ( Sohene)
Campo do Boa, Capelinha, Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.1 x 3.3 x 1.7 cm
Titanite, often referred to as Sohene, from the Ancient Greek “wedge,” is a calcium titanium nesosilcate mineral. It exhibits strong pleochroism and is frequently twinned, as is this specimen. This specimen features sub-adamantine luster, a bright yellow green coloration, and is DT on matrix. Its wedge shaped upper termination makes this one a classic example of the species!
