Tucson, Arizona, USATsumeb mine in Namibia is renowned for many things mineralogical, including extremely rare species and remarkably well-crystallized examples of more common species. Cerussite, chemically lead carbonate, is one of the latter group - a species which occurs in some abundance within the extensive oxidation zone encountered at Tsumeb mine. Although common as a lead mineral on a world scale, rarely is it found in the size and perfection of crystals seen at Tsumeb. This very large miniature Cerussite specimen is not the most aesthetic, lacking the high lustre and gemminess of some specimens, but there is no escaping its overall size and quite respectable shape as a chunky twinned crystal. For the price this is a lot of Cerussite, and try finding a comparable crystal from any other locality in the world. Ex David Hardman collection who obtained it back in the 1970s.
