Baryte
Androvo mine in Smolyan Province, Bulgaria has, in relatively recent years produced some excellent large tabular Baryte crystals both colourless and amber coloured but this particular specimen takes things to an entirely different level. At over 14 cm long it is a large dramatic display specimen but that is only part of the story. The individual tabular crystals are mostly between 4 and 5 cm in length and are supremely glassy, bright and colourless to white. They completely cover one side of a flat plate, and extend around the edges in a beautiful arrangement. Their form might initially look to be a straightforward 'typical' orthorhomic Baryte shape, but they have unusual modifications and natural growth lines as striations. The quality of the crystals is exceptional making for a stunning large display specimen.
