Aggregate of flattened lustrous crystals forming a ring, which is a very original form for this prolific brucite discovery. The color of the crystals is an intense yellow, which is the best color of this find. A little matrix at the bottom of the specimen is reminiscent of how this brucite was formed by leaching the gray magnesian rock which constitutes it.

Brucite from Killa Saifullah District, Pakistan
The brucite from Killa Saifullah District is the modern locality that made a once-obscure species suddenly irresistible to fine-mineral collectors. Before the Pakistani material reached the international market, brucite was respected more often than loved: a soft magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)2, usually pale, waxy, fibrous, or massive, and only occasionally presentable. The Killa Saifullah finds changed that expectation with vivid lemon-yellow, translucent to gemmy botryoidal masses and rounded crystal aggregates that glow when backlit. The best pieces have a saturated color that looks almost improbable for the species, coupled with a soft internal luminosity and a sculptural, bubble-like surface.
