Calcite
A sawn and polished slice of banded, pale peppermint-green Calcite, collected by Arthur Russell in June 1920. His neatly hand printed label reads “Sir Francis Level, Gunnerside (Cross-cut to intersection of Friarfold and Great Rake Veins) Swaledale, Yorkshire”. The Sir Francis Level is part of Lownathwaite mine in Gunnerside Gill, Swaledale, North Yorkshire. The polished face is highly lustrous and displays thin curved bands of deep peppermint-green within the overall structure. An unusual specimen and historically interesting with a Sir Arthur Russell’s label in perfect condition.\n
