Fluorite with Chalcopyrite

Lustrous cubic crystals of fluorite measuring to 2.2 cm on edge lightly dusted with hematite and set on matrix with crystallized chalcopyrite. Minimal cleaving present, the prominent crystals are in good condition. A neat historical specimen that comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video. This dates to the 19th century and at one time was part of the collection of Wilhelm Hoyer.The Stolberg mining district in the Harz Mountains of Germany has a long history of mining dating back to the Middle Ages, with activity focused on silver, lead, and copper from hydrothermal veins. Mining expanded through the 16th to 19th centuries with extensive underground workings. In addition to ore minerals, the district produced well crystallized fluorite from vein deposits, often occurring as cubic crystals with colors ranging from purple to green.
