Erythrite
Erythrite, 5.7 cm, from the Bou Azzer District, Ouarzazate Province, Morocco. Erythrite, a cobalt arsenate, is easy to identify by its vibrant pink-purple color. It was known by the tribal people as a toxin and was used to poison insects and rats. This specimen is probably from Vein 7, which produced fine specimens in the 1960s and 1970s, considering that it was in the University collection before other fine examples were found in 2000. It is somewhat unusual with its nodular, radiating habit.
